All of this talk about hydraulics has reminded me of a question about my tractor. Some previous owner connected the line in and out ports on the bottom of the hydraulics assembly on the same side as the filter together with a two foot hose. In the manuals it looked like these ports are normally plugged if not used. Is this setup OK ? I can lift large round bales with the 3PT, but sometimes the relief valve chatters when cold. I also get this noise the first time I exercise a remote cylinder after hooking it up. The hydraulics on this tractor are a lot more complicated than my Ford Jubilee !

Thanks ...

This should not be a problem as long as you dont move the remote hyd lever for that side. With a hose hooked here you wont blow the relief valve when you push the wrong remote valve.

Larry :

Are these ports for a third remote ? My tractor has two remotes (along with the 3 point) and they all work.

These ports are down near the base of the hydraulic unit, just in front of the filter.

Thanks
