Oliver 66 Row crop

Just got it out of the weeds. 1950 66 rowcrop. Serial # confirms the date. Missing the PTO shaft but I have the cover and a multitude of parts out of a shed. I'm reasonably mechanical but I have no clue how this thing goes back together or even what I'm missing. Need a service/parts manual, found one @ a retail site for $129.00 Will it tell me what I need to know? exploded parts etc. Don't mean to sound cheap, but that's alot of money to me @ the moment! Any Advice?

Well now ya got her. I have operators manual, I-T book, and the oliver parts book for a 66. The parts book has some excellent photos. Ask ? s any time.

I picked up an IT manual for mine at Quality Farm & Fleet for $29. It has pretty good photos, and descriptions.

I picked up an I & T shop manual on ebay for around 30 bucks. I have been around Olivers for 50 years or so but from what I see in this one you should get most of the information you should need to get the 66 back togather. It wouldn't hurt to pick up an operaters manual also.

butch, what you're kinda sorta asking is "is there any cheaper way to get those manuals?".

i guess there is -- check e-bay, search for other sites which carry them. don't know that i personally have found that many price differences.

but i will say this.....

no matter what you pay, those manuals are going to save you a ton of headaches down the road. i.e. whatever you pay it's gonna be worth it.

Thanks Bob, didn't mean to sound like a cheap skate, Willingness to pay is not exactly the issue. I just have to kinda watch my pennies so to speak.I guess I just want to find out if the manual has real parts information or just tells you how to get it started and fill it with gas etc. Thanks again
