I had an 1800B with factory LP. It had the Bendix system, which had the vaporizer mounted on the front of the head under the thermostat, the regulator was on the carburator, not a good system. I changed to a century, much better, gained about ten HP on the dyno. I enlarged the manifold throat a little and put the air breather on the on the outside of the radiator away from the heat from the radiator, LP performs better with cool air. I mounted the vaporizer under the fuel tank with some home made brackets. Delbert

The original LP Gas vaporizer set in the front of the engine. Look at the front, on top of the water pump. There should be a round vaporizer about 2 1/2 inches in Dia. in the block. It set down inside the engine. The reason this has been changed over is it is Zenith. It was an odd system that was only used on a few applications. The Zenith vaporizer should still be in the mounting hole. If not, someone has removed it and covered the hole with a plate. The feature of the Zenith was - it was small. You didn't have to run any water lines to it since it was in the cooling system. It made a very nice neat installation. However, it didn't match anything else. Zenith worked on 5-6 pounds pressure, Century,Impco, Allgas, Beam and Ensign all worked on 4-5 pounds preasure. It was changed due to parts avallability. I don't think you can get the Zenith vaporizer anymore. One of the things I have in my collection is a new, never used Zenith. It is 30 years old. I think the vaporizer is in the cooling system section of the parts book. Makes sense - if you are an over paid engineer.

I have a service manuel and it covers this system some. I looked all through it and i can't say where the regulator is mounted.
