MY 550 Oliver live PTO will not disengage. No
amount of excessive load on pto will free it.
This is my first Oliver. Any quick fix?

MINE DID THE SAME THING - FOUND THAT THE SHIFTING YOKE WAS WORN OUT AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. FOLKS - OLIVERS(S55 & 550) HAVE A BRASS PTO SHIFTING YOKE THAT NEEDS GREASING DAILY(EVERY 8 HRS OF OPERATION) . GREASE FITTING ON THE SIDE OF THE CENTER MAIN CASTING. GREASING IS CHEAPER THAN REPLACEMENT BELIVE ME! IF YOU NEED TO REPLACE THE YOKE GET A SERVICE MANUAL(ITT SELL A GOOD ONE) AND THE SPLITTING AND REPLACEMENT IS EASY. CONTACT ME IF YOU NEED MORE INFORMATION. GARY

You may want to try removing the PTO clutch cover inspection plate on the bottom of the tractor. You should be able to adjust the PTO clutch by virtue of turning the clutch adjustment ring.

I've never tried this on my 550, as the the pto works fine (just leaks like a sieve!), but I've read about it in the Oliver Service Manual. Good Luck. Eric
