i am sure that this question has been asked before, but i searched the archives and could not find the thread.

so.....

can category 1 implements be used on a category 2 hitch?? any safety concerns?? do category 1 implements on a C2 hitch perform acceptably??

appreciate the input.....

I have used Cat 1 implements on Cat 2 tractors for many years- While you can use the Cat 1 toplink, you will have to lengthen it out almost to the max- you have more flexibility if you get a Cat 2 toplink. I have one of each, as implements (and the need to adjust the toplink) vary. I have never had a problem with length of bushings on the lower links.

My sister's 1355 Oliver (Fiat) has Cat 2 lowers and a Cat 1 upper on the tractor. You have to watch arm and link lengths, the Cat 2 link is longer. I use Farmex bushings to use Cat 1 implements on Cat 2's all the time, just remember that your tractor can probably bend the implement. The other thing you may find is that Cat 1 pins are not long enough to go all the way through Cat 2 balls. A $4 pin change (Farmex, just bought one for my back blade) to longer pins or Cat 2 pins will fix this, unless you have permanent pins (like Oliver plows) in which case you need to make some Cat 1 arms for your tractor.

Yes it can, but you must be careful and use common sense, as cat 1 implements were not designed to stand up to the higher horse power/force that a cat 2 tractor can generate. Farmex (www.farmex.com) makes the single toplink and 2 lift arm bushings required to install the cat 1 implement to a cat 2 tractor. They have 2 styles of each bushing which differ only in length.
