Have an 88 RC that needed fasteners replaced. While it is possible to use "off the shelf hex head similars", the parts book for this tractor called for 1/2-13 x 3 1/2 square head bolts and 1/2 nuts that are 7/8 across the flats instead of the usual 3/4. There should be a wheel photo and address attached for Brad Allen who supplied what I needed in grade 5 hardware. I don't want to become the source for possible wheel problems and /or confusion and I'm not promoting Mr. Allen in particular, but had looked locally for 3 - 4 months for the correct bolts with no success.

Went to a site e-fastener.com and did a search for suppliers. Took me to a link Manufacturers Fastener World at www.M-F-W.com. They have an onsite catalogue. I beleive what you are looking for is a "heavy hex nut". I did a search and they have several for 1/2 13. In several materials, and finishes. Hope this is what you are looking for.

Thanks for the site info. Had no idea such a place existed.

I had found Brad Allen's site by searching for "bolt" at Ebay. Believe he is into farming as well as selling hardware - he was very helpful and sent the required 18 bolts and nuts via US postal service, promptly.

Sometimes the PC saves lots of driving and frustration!!

Oh, good. I thought you still hadn't found them. Yeah, I didn't know such a site existed either. I put it in my book marks. Seems you can find any kind of hardware off that site. Might come in handy one day.

I used to work at a metal fabrication plant in the Vancouver,BC area and we used oversized nuts on high voltage tower construction. Most of the hardware was 5/8" or larger, but I would think that it would be availabel in 1/2" too. Have you tried a fabrication shop for information?
