Has anyone ever built and pulled a 2150 Oliver tractor with any success? I am looking for a 2150
to purchase and build for pulling.

Get a 2255 or a 2-180 field boss w/a 3208 cause you can bore it out and turbo it and get 1200+ HP!

Back in the early 70's a Bill Selby from Ridgeway,MO pulled a 12000 and 15000lb 2150 Oliver superstock tractor.This was back when 400-500 horses made you tough to beat.I dont remember Bill winning very many pulls but he was competitve and always finished in the middle of the pack.He was probably running 400+ horses and had 24.5 tires.A 2150 Oliver is a hard to find tractor in this area.The old Oliver dealer at Rich Hill,MO passed away 3-4 years ago and the 2150 FWA used on his farm brought $8,000 at his sale.

We have a couple brothers that live around us that use to pull with a 2050. Right now they are in the process of restoring it back to it's original condition due to the fact that there aren't too many around. I don't know how they ever really did with it. We also have a couple neighbors who use a 2255 and have pretty good luck with it. That cat motor seems to be a good motor. I don't know how available parts are for the hercules, but I've heard those motors are really expensive to work on. We just bought a 2150 after looking for one for a couple years. We're having the guys with the 2050 work on it. I don't have any contact information for them off hand, but if you want I could probably get a phone number for you. They are in eastern Iowa around the Waterloo area.

I want to stay in the stock class with this tractor. The big boys here in wisconsin call it the brush league but thats where I want to start. I have to stay within the guidelines,so I wanted an Oliver with big cubes and a turbo to build. This is a heavy tractor, but with a lot of work and a little luck, maybe I can get done to the lighter weight classes and have a lot of fun.

I think that you will have a hard time getting it below 12500 and 12500 with these will be hard also.

I would call Maibach's in ohio. If someone has done it they would know. I would personnally go with a 2255 with a 3208 (with enough money and caution to the wind you can get them over 1000hp, wheel speed is a concern on olivers though IH and Deere seem to get more of it and this is a big key to pulling), maibachs have worked on these for pullers in the past and just worked on one that is in canada. Maibach's have made an 1850, i think it was Tom (It gets your blood running when they talk about it) that they put a huge mack inline pump on it. Rudy had a 1950-T that he had pulling clear down to 7500 lbs that they put a 2-135 or 2-155 turbo on, into a puller and they just worked on a 2-105 for someone in PA that is to be hot. They are good with 354's , 310's and 3208's and I am sure that they would know what to do to a 478 if this helps you make a choice. There are guys that pull 2-135's and 2-155's so the engine can be worked on. If you have the money to spend anything can be made into a puller. When my Z28 is payed off I will be looking for a 2-180 or 2255 to build into a puller to make the deere run and hide.
