I have a 1958 550 with the foot rest rubbing on the pto linkage. I straitened it out but now it will not lock in the running position. Can this be fixed by adjusting the pto cluch or some other adjustment? Thanks AL

There is an inspection plate on bottom of trans that gets you to the adj. nut on the PTO Small spring loaded pin on big (4" dia.)nut. Push in pin and turn nut clockwise to tighten counter to loosen. You should feel and hear a "SNAP" when it locks in. I just replaced all the clutch discs in my Super 55. So I've "been there". Hope that helps.

Same-oh same-oh he is right about how to make the pto tighter...but that does seem to be a problem with the design of the right foot rest with the pto engaging rod going through the holes in the foot rest..... I plan on fixing my problem by re-enforceing the foot rest and heating to re-shape the linkage rod..... bad design here since I only weigh about 160 lbs. and do not stand and jump on the foot rest....
