Oliver 550 Axle Bearing

My friend is working on an 1961 Oliver 550. He has the transmmision cases apart, and has found that one of the bearings is bad. It is the bearing on the axleshaft, behind the bull gear. The bearing is about two inches in diameter. It has two races with balls seperating them. The bearing is not designed to take load around the center, but to take the load on the face. We have tried looking for a new bearing at all the bearing suppliers, and they have had no idea where to get one. The only part number on it are AETNA A-2298. PLease let me know if you have any clues where I could find one, new or used.

As you have quickly become aware these bearings
are obsolete. I have yet to get into the transmission of my Super 55 due to a fused pin.
However, I have searched for this bearing for a while. I was not able to find a set of new bearings even though there were once several manufacturers of these bearings. You might try Obrien county implement.
They deal in used oliver parts.

Another option which I did not excercise yet was to purchase a similar bearing from a company called Anglo American Services 865-675-1505. They are an parts import firm for foreign equipment. Ask for Monty, he quoted me a bearing in the week of March 15th, It appeared to be fairly close.
Unfortunately I have lost the quoation number. It might be worth a call. If you get lucky let me know how it turns out as I need to repair my tractor as well.
