We live in the Netherlands and collect american tractors.
We own a Cockshutt 30 diesel that worked in France. We read about the fact that they started building 30 diesels in 1949. Our tractor is an '49 model Sn. 18383. From what number started they with the diesel? We also have a 20 distillate that was donated by Canadian red cross when a part of Holland was flooded in 1953.

Bart, the first serial for a 30 diesel is not going to be easy to find. To the best of my knownlege Cockshutt did not indicate fuel type in their serial numbers. Diesels were inter-mixed with all other tractors. The first serial number of 1949 is 49-30-17370, the first 1950 is 26161.Your cockshutt was build fairly early in the 1949 model run. My father was a Cockshutt dealer in Minnesota during the 1950's, and estimates only 12-15% of 30's were diesels.
