I have an Oliver 770G which is equipped with the original generator and voltage regulator, which is no longer charging. I have 2 questions- 1) what is the proper way to full field this generator to bypass the voltage reg. and test gen. output? I can't determine whether itis an a or b circuit generator. 2) i am considering installing an alternator, probably an internally regulated Delco. Any suggestions and wiring info would be appreciated.

I assume the generator is like my S77, if so you might try to clean the armature with come crocus cloth through the rear openings on the rear of the generator, if that does not work you probably need the armature turned and the mica cut, that usualy works. If you put on an alternator I am restoring a S55 that had an alternator and I want to put back a generator to make it origional, if you want to sell the gen send an email or post a notice on the discussion board. Hope this helps and thank you. Delbert [email protected]

It simple if you buy an one wire alt. Just build a new bracket and run the wire back to the amp. gauge.

Does any one have a part number for the one wire alternator? Maybe a Delco # or are there many different alternator's for the 770?
