Oliver 1255 D info needed

I Just returned home the small family farm where we have a Oliver 1255D and know nothing about it. I have tried repair shops around here and they do not seem to have any knowledge of this particular tractor. So lets start here.
1. What type engine oil is used and can a filter from auto parts store be used.
2. What goes in the Transmision or gear box and is this the same fluid the 3pt hitch works on and where do you put this in.
3. The lift arm on the 3pt hitch (left side if faceing the back of tractor) is leaking what type of seal is there and how is it replaced.
4. If there are other things I need to prpperly service this tractor I would appreciate someone letting me know.
Before I forget the tractor runs great oil level is ok but has not been changed in awhile. and there is a small pedal under my right leg as I sit on the tractor looks like a foot pump of some kind what does it do?
Any help would be appreciated at this time. I just retired from the army and have not had much expereince with working on tractors. It belonged to my grandfather and just want to keep it going.

I'm sure there are folks out there that can answer all those questions, but it sounds like the first thing that would help is an Operator's Manual. This spells out all the correct fluids, filter part numbers that can probably be cross-referenced at an auto parts or tractor supply store, and will help answer the continuing set of questions you will likely have. You can probably locate one through this website. If not, try the Floyd County Historical Society in Charles City, Iowa, where Olivers were built. I don't have their address, but the Hart Parr Oliver Collector's club can be reached at PO Box 685, Charles City, Iowa 50616, their website is hartparroliver.org. They can hook you up with the information at the Hist. society. I purchased a tractor parts manual through them.
The 1255 was the next generation of the 1250, which was imported by Oliver from Fiat of Italy. I'm not sure who built the 1255, but I don't think it was Oliver in the US. Early 70s was the time frame.
As far as the pedal under your right foot, on a 1250, it's the differential lock. Good Luck----dwm
