Oliver Super 55 original Oliver Super 55 markings

On my Super 55 the tin has been poorly painted over the original, except where the words "Oliver" and "Super 55" are. Looks like they were masked off when it was repainted. They are white letters with a very thin yellow shadow. Are these the original markings? ..... .

I'll stand by my statement of the red wheels appearing in 57 model year. Literature form #A-936 dated 6-54 shows the Super 55 with green wheels. Form A-959 dated 12-56 shows the red wheels. Remember that a lot of the wheels were repainted by dealers or owners as people liked the red wheels on the first fleetlines. Have friend that was running a complete tool order desk for a Oliver Branch at the time, he said red wheels one year only on the supers.

When old and faded the markings appear whitish but where yellow. PLaces that sell decals only list gas or diesel. I painted mine yellow free hand useing a small brush. its not perfect but the rest of the paint is the same. One man i know insists that all olivers have red wheels and painted his S55 that way. I have never fond any S55 with red wheels from the factory.

All Super series tractors had green wheels, except the 1957 model year production, they had red wheels. There is literature that shows the red wheel tractors.

I think you mean 1954 had red wheels.I have a number of things showing red wheels on S88 and S77 they where made first in 1954. My oliver stuff says they made an in production color change during that year. So tractors made in 54 could have either color depending if made before or after that date. What my stuff does not show is if they made S55's before the color change. They may have. The guy with the S55 and red wheels,says his is a 55 and the wheels where green when he got it.

My 56 has red axle shields. A factory brochure shows red wheels,yellow grill and lettering[obtained from the oliver gangs home page--http:/my.voyager.net/closey] Also the paint nos were found,green Martin-Senour 99L-8748,yellow Dupont Dulux-029, red for wheels Martin Senour 99L-3752
