I have recently aquired an Oliver 770 from my father. It is a gas powered 6 cylinder. My father insists that it is 35 hp. I say it has to be more than that. Can anyone help me out?

Thanks Jeff

Jeff , Both your father and Chad are correct. Here is how it goes: Your father is talking about rated drawbar HP. According to Nebraska tractor testing , the rated drawbar horse power of the "770" is 34.8 HP. They come up with this HP useing 4th gear , the gear they used most for field work. Chadd is talking about corrected drawbar HP(He even noted that). Corrected drawbar HP is established useing low gear. Rated drawbar is approx: 75% of corrected drawbar.

Nebraska test May 1958 45.05 drawbar Hp, 51.63 Belt Hp. This was a corrected test. I got this info from "The Guide to Oliver Hart-Parr and White Farm Tractors" by Larry Gay.
