Help! Problems with my pto. I am pulling a Bushhog 306 cutter behind my Oliver; the bushhog is in good shape. The problem is that when the cutter meets resistence, the pto slows and then stops. I can bump the pto lever forward and its starts up again. I'm having the same problem operating my 6ft. tiller.

Does your PTO "snap" over center when you engage it. If not, then it probably needs to be tighted. Follow Larry's advice on adjusting. If you can't adjust it enough, then the plates are probably worn out and will need replacing. Good Luck!

adjust the pto clutch through the pipe plug hole on top of pto.

Thank you for the advice. I adjusted counter-clockwise a couple of notches. Worked for short time and then began to slip again. I adjusted again and same thing. Note that when I engage PTO there is no tension on lever and cannot feel "over center". When slippage begins, I can shove lever forward and PTO well engage, but begins to slip again. Any suggestions?
