880 Clutch noise

On my new toy which is an 880 I have a problem when it gets warm and you hold the clutch in for more than a few seconds, it starts making an afwul grinding noise, and is very difficult to shift gears. I have greased the throw out bearing. I also reviewed the IT manual and it has the recomended 3/4 inch of free play in the clutch pedal. Any Ideas as to what the problem might be.

The clutch shaft is supported by a ball bearing Oliver part number 101 803-A. More than likely the bearing is failing. Of course the shaft and the flywheel are turning at the same speed when the clutch is enganged, thus no noise.

Where exactly is this bearing, and how difficult is it to change the part? Does this require pulling the engine, or simply removal of the shaft from the bell housing to the transmission.

You have to remove the pto shaft that goes to the flywheel. It is inside of the shaft you can see, that shaft has to be removed too. Then clutch parts can be removed. If you just want to look,colaplase the outer shaft and slide clutch houseing back. These comments only apply if you don't have the 2 speed on your tractor.
