hi folks , can some one tell me what are the proper steps to take in changeing from a gen to a alt. also can i still use the same wireing that is hooked to the gen. now as far as were they are connect to the ingintion switch and the rest of the inst. also is there any special type of brackets that i will have to make is there any alt. that works or fits the best for this job.the more detail about this would be great. thank you in advance. ED

Use a Delco-Remy alternator with a built in regulator. You can rig it up with a one wire set up if you get an alternator with a self energizing unit in it. Use a 10 gauge wire from the main(bat) terminal on the alternator to the hot side of the ammeter. I would scrap any old wiring as most wiring on older farm tractors is in pretty bad shape anyway. As for the bracket,my experience has been that you usually need to fabricate one and may need a shorter or longer drive belt also.
