I'm overhauling my S-283-GLA Engine in my 1650. I had thought it was a VRD283 but I was wrong.

I have flat top, 4 ring pistons. The book calls for the top ring to be a chrome faced ring, then #2 & #3 being standard cast rings, then ofcourse a normal oil control ring.

Waukesha has sent the wrong parts so many times, I'm not sure I want to trust them anymore.

They sent 3 cast rings (top 3 grooves take the same ring according to them) and an oil control ring.

I removed a chrome top ring when I tore it down, and the book states there should be a chrome top ring. Can anyone verify that all cast rings will work fine for me?

Thanks in advance

The last set I got for an 1850 were all cast. I looked them over and see the same as you, I wondered why but not very long and I just put them in. I couldn't think of a problem it would cause. If you find out that it will cause problem please let me know so I can be mad at myself for not checking further.
