Just overhauled a Oliver 1750 and the oil pressure runs over 80 when cold and about 75 when the tractor warms up. I know how to adjust the oil pump or the by pass to lower the pressure. My question is this? Does it hurt the engine to run that high of oil pressure and if so, what does it do to the engine? When my dad was alive, He didn't like to have that much oil pressure. Don't know why?

High oil pressure will eat off the drive gears for the pump in an oliver, I've done that. Dad's 1950-T runs about 27 psi warm and 30 some odd cold.

My old book say's high oil presure will cause, oil foaming, overheating of oil, excesive oil thrown out of rod berings which ends up on cylinder walls and causes high oil consumption. I wish I could have gotten oilpresure like that on my 1950T.
