Help! I purchased what I thought was Oliver 77 Diesel Row Crop Tractor. Label says: Oliver Corp., Charles City, IA, specification #17-1417, serial #15775-702. Straight 6 diesel, wide front end. Can anyone tell me more about this tractor? Engine? I also have 77 gas but everything is clear on this tractor. Spencer T.

With a serial number that high it should be a super model. Its between 1955 and 56. I don't have a spec. list,so look for a casting no. on the block if it starts with a K it is a s88.

Larry - Regarding my Oliver Diesel, the numbers on the engine block are: F122954 (vertical) and two horizontal: 1M700B and 185220B. The number on the inside of the piston skirt is 1 80604A. The mystery deepends. Spencer T., New Sharon Maine 800-341-4674

The piston skirt number does not help me as maney pistons where cast the same then ground down to differant sizes. The 1M700B should be a 77 number. So I guess you have a S77.

If you have the pistons out it should be easy. S77 pistons have a cut out place on each side of the piston skirt. They let the smaller crankshaft turn without hitting the pistons. The S77 came with 3 1/2 inch pistons,but you often see the oversize 3 5/8 inch pistons instaled. 88 pistons are full lenght and round on the bottem. It might take me awhile to find those numbers, my books are a mess.

Larry - Thanks for piston info. Pistons do have a cut-out on the bottom of the skirt and are 3 1/2" in diameter, not 3 5/8". Written inside skirt is "Comformatic" on one side and 1 80604A on opposite. Your assistance is much appreciated. Spencer T.
