Oliver Super 55 on a slope

I am about ready to purchase a oliver super 55 for mowing berms around ponds, the tractor will be mowing on the slope....following the contour pretty much all of the time. I saw in the tractor forum archives where someone said this was not good for a super 55 because the tractor had a system where the crankshaft splashed oil and on a slope the motor would not be lubricated properly.
I am looking at a gas model does this go for gas or diesel or were they talking about just the diesel?

I would suggest if the tractor is to run on much of a slope to adjust the tread width out as wide as possible. I use my 550 for mowing slopes sometimes. I have had no trouble with the oiling system, but do make sure it is full. I have fluid in tires for weight and set tread to widest width. I have had it on slopes that tractor wants to slide down sideways. Always walk the area first to look for holes that would cause trator angle to suddenly increase and flip. The rule of thumb is if it feels too steep it probly is. Use your comon sense.

I call that "feel" the "butt pucker" factor. If it makes my butt pucker, then I don't go back.

The rod bearings are oiled through the crankshaft and not by the rods splashing in the oil. As long as the suction strainer is under the oil you should not have a problem. Up side down in the water is another story. Keep her on all fours.
