I have a friend that is looking for stripe weight off of his Cockchutt 560 Diesel for pulling. One thing that we noticed is the power steering, and are wondering if there is a manual steering that we can replace it with? If so where would you find such a part, and what could I expect as a reasonable price? Also does anyone have any ideas on how strip additional wieght off of it? It has a smaller gas tank, pressed wheels all around, no alternator, parts of the platform have been replaced with steel, and various other little parts that aren't essential to it's running are also in a pile.

The manual steering boxs for the 500 series tractors are very rare. I have a 570 and I adapted a steering box off a 40 cockshutt had to splice the steering shaft and made a new tower out of aluminum. sounds involved but it was not that hard to do. it took about 85 lbs. off.E-mail me if you have any questions. I got mine down to 5200 with driver. [email protected]
