Am interested in a 880 for sale. It is a nice tight tractor. Are they a good restoration project? Any weaknesses etc.? Will be used to do light work around home. (Yes, I like the horsepower, other wise I would get a 2N or something.) Thanks.

Well if you are only going to do light work you should consider another tractor :)But if you must have it it is a good choice.plenty of power and has good fuel economy.Things to look for --use a hydraulic cylinder to make sure the pump is ok.Also the power booster has two clutches(about $90 each) that the inside teeth could wear out and cause the tranny to kick out on the lower gears.Only real way to check is to pull a load but even if they are bad are not a high dollar item to fix.Otherwise I do not know of any other problems with these tractors.

Will that same power booster problem happen in 770s? Dad's got one with a problem.
