The motor in my '69 2150 has a bad rod bearing and the cost to overhaul is prohibitive. I am looking for someone knowledgable about the hydraul shift and transmission on the 2150 and 2255. Is it possible to install the Caterpillar 3208 motor used in the 2255 if the bell housing and motor mounts are changed?

I don't think it would work. The frames are way different. You'd be money ahead just fixing the berring vs a 3208 as they are not the best. A cummins is probably abetter bet if you really want to switch.

The engines of the two tractors bolt down differently, they both have a standard S.A.E. bellhousing but differences in lengths of engines and how the O/U couples up to the trans. would make the swap more difficult. Reitzel Bros. at Edon, Ohio have been advertising the Hercules engine like is in your 2150 for sale. They have them priced at $1250 and ad says they have low hrs. That's the way I'd go first. Their ph.# is 1-419-272-2680 or 5406. Good Luck, hope this helps!
