I hava a 1650 which I replaced the PTO clutch discs in. I added an extra disc since most of the newer models came wit six(?) instead of five(?). In the IT manual it mentioned also that the later models had an extra oil port drilled into the main PTO shaft to allow for extra oil flow between these discs. This was supposed to help with the problem of the PTO running constantly, especially when the oil is cold. Does anyone know if this will help? Or is this an inherent problem that the PTO will always be hard to shut off on this model?

Mitch, PTO running all the time has always been a problem with the 1650. I have one myself and have the same problem. The best advice is to adjust your PTO so it will shut off while hooked to an impliment. It will still turn a little while unhooked. Make sure your engagement linkage is also properly adjusted. This sometimes will help. Or as Dean said a gummy strap to hold the engagement leaver back will work too.

The PTO on my late model 1650G works exactly as intended; rotates when engaged, does not rotate at all when not engaged.

I have the exact same problem. I took mine apart and inspected everything. I backed the adjuster way off and she still spins. Finally, I installed the Bungee cord back on it the previous owner had stuck on there. The bungee cord works real good, however, I would like to fix it right.
