This week I read an ad in the local classifieds that read 1952 Oliver Super 77 Standard. I would be interested in a Super 77 Standard but Oliver did not start make the Supers 77 until 1954. So I call the ad and tried to determine if it was a Super or a 1952. All my questions seemed to confuse the guy and he insisted that it was a Super and in very good condition1. Since it was close I went to see for myself. When I pulled to tractor in my truck at first I was confused. It was the strangest 77 I ever saw. Then I started laughing and was still laughing when the walked out of the house. It was not a Super 77. In fact it was not even a 77. It was a 1955 Super 55. The guy did have a owners manual for a Super 77. It took a while to show him that the pictures in the manual did not look like the tractor. Also it was in very poor condition. I guess the point is you never know about these things unless you see them for yourself. I have had misreprestented before but this takes the cake. I did not buy the tractor. My wife was happy.
