Thought I would supply a little more info. The marine reverse gears were supplied to the Navy for Landing craft, the LCVP landing craft vehicle & personnel, LCM landing craft mechanized, and LCT landing craft tank. Models included MG-101-1, MG101-2, MG126-2, MG126-3, MG201-2 X-8708-A and X8708-B Documents at the Floyd County Museum in Charles City Iowa show shipments to the Navy, Army, Buda engine, Cummins, Gray Marine, Stewart & Stevenson, Detroit Diesel and Twin Disc. The Navy had approached Oliver early in May 1942 with a direct contract request for these transmissions. Considering the usual problems of aquiring patterns and tooling it is asstonishing that marine gears were being shipped from Charles City by August of 1942. Total Charles City war production between 1942 and 1945 was $ 23,548,527 of which approximately $ 15.7 million was marine transmissions. After the war Oliver & Twin Disc supplied parts for some time. Extra transmissions may have been sold by the Navy on the open market or Oliver. Many fishing and other boats were equipped with these units. They were originally designed to last on average 55 hours, landing craft were evidently not expected to be used much. the actual service life of the transmissions is quite high. Parts lists copies for the Oliver units are available at the museum for a small fee, if other information is needed let me know I will help if I can.
