I can say that the 1755 had problems with broken crankshafts. I had one of the last of these tractors built, at 1800 hrs, the crank broke. Found out later that the harmonic balancer had slipped. After another 1000 hrs the tractor wouldn't hold oil pressure at low idle and suspected that the balancer had once again failed.

My local White dealer told me to replace the bolts in the rods and mains on the 1855 Oliver if I ever get one. The original bolts were not the correct spec. The 1755 and 1955 Olivers didn't seem to have the same problem. All three have the 310 Waukesha/Oliver engine. The 1755 is natural aspirated; the 1855 is "slightly" turbocharged; the 1955 is fully turbocharged. He also said to put the 1955 oil cooler on the 1855. The 1955 Olivers also used higher quality piston rings, etc. I am not afraid to buy any of these tractors. I will get one of these tractors someday. I currently use an Oliver 1650 diesel and a MM 445 Utility gas.

TO FRANK AND BOB, THANKS GUYS FOR THE BAD NEWS BUT THANK YOU FOR THE COME BACK PS, ITS NOT A GAS TRACTOR IF THAT MAKES A DIFFERANCE AND IM SURE IT DOES I KIND OF FORGOT TO MENTION THAT LAST NIGHT THANKS AGAIN LITTLE JOHN, IN WISCONSIN

For what it's worth, my wife's dad has had a 1750 (gas) sitting out behind the barn the past 10 years or so. It's got a hole the size of a grapefruit in the side of the block. Apparently this is the 3rd motor to fail like this on this tractor. (He's also got 3 other Olivers: a 1600, 1650 and 1850. All of them continue to run just fine after 35+ years of farm use.)

I've heard stories about broken crank shafts and
parts coming through the side of the block. Maybe
others can give more details on this

i have a 1600 1850 and a 1755 all run perfect used every day there good tractors but some had bad motors i think a lot were broke by there owners a oliver guy told me once that if you dont run them full throtle just a bit from full throtle it will be just fine
