: : : I am posting this for my uncle. He has a steel wheeled tractor that says Cockshutt Hart Parr over the grill. On the serial # plate it says Rating 1808, #is 802796. Does anyone know where a person could buy or have a Carb. rebuilt for this tractor. The carb. says Ensign, Pat.# 13 06220, 17 48472, 17 99586. He works on small engines and tractors at his repair shop and this tractor will run but only at full speed. He has narrowed it down to the carb. but is having trouble finding one or someone that is able to rebuild it. Sent it away once and $200.00 later it came back no better than when it went, tore it apart and everything was the same as when sent except for some kind of coating on the inside that was washing out with the gas. Would be greatfull for any information, thanks in advance. : : : Terry : : Your Uncle apparently has a model 18-28. They were made as both Oliver/Hart-Parr and Cockshut/Hart-Parr models. The serial number matches a 1936 model. : : If he is sure the problem is carb related and not govenor or magneto related he might try: Branson Enterprises, 7722 Elm Ave, Rockford, IL 61115 Ph. (815)633-4262 : : I've never dealt with them but I've heard good reports about them. : : Have him make sure the impulse on the mag is working. If it is broken the spark may be too weak to run at low RPMs. According to the serial number lists I've looked at the 18-28 was made through 1937. The 80RC and the 80 standard were first built in 1937 but the 80 industrial was actually several years earlier. : I am only 16 years old and dont know everything about Olivers/Cockshuts but I pull an 1936 oliver 80 low radeator (only 475 made with low radeator) and had magneto troubles. the tractor would run great intell it was put under a load and then it would pop and fart and run out of power. I finaly heard a noise coming from the mag and when I took it a part I found out that the bearing int the front or the mag was bad and was creating a vibration that though everything outa wack. I put a new mag on it and won allmost every pull I went to. If that is not your problem then check if it is in time on the inside of the housing. I had to take the hole thing a part to time it when my Grandpa and I restored it. And a nother thing your tractor most likly is not a 1936 model becouse there was not none made in 1936, that is when they changed to The oliver 80.
