This is my 1855 with the oil filter adaptor I purchased from John Parker. He advertises in both the HPOCA magizine and Oliver Hertiage. So far it seems to work pretty well and is a simple conversion.

I buy a filter base from a salvage yard for a gas engine. There are Fleetguard filters available for the fitting that comes with the filter base or you can change to the fitting that is used with the long O/U filter and use a bigger, more readily available Fleetguard filter.
Converted both of my 1655 diesels that way.

I just put that adapter on our 1855 last year. Haven't done an oil change since then yet but it should be a little easier now instead of the old sock filter...

As long as it's got the sock type, it'll fit. It uses a filter for a 7000 series Allis Chalmers- the dealer looked at me with a funny eye when I only asked for one of those filters as the AC's use 2 filters.
