Finally getting to work on that 60. Got the engine all torn apart. Now have a few questions. Is there a source for main and rod bearing? Are they the same as a 66?

Also may need some valves, any sources for those?

Also want to replace the seals on the sleeves. Where can I get them? Are they just an o-ring?

Thanks!!

Mr. Schwiebert had an excellent tech tip article on rebuilding the Oliver 60 motor in the Hart-Parr Oliver collector magazine a few isues back. It might be useful to you if you had a back copy of that issue. I've included a link for info on how to contact them for back issues.

66 bearings are the same dimensions but the oil holes need to be relocated. BTDT
I"ve rebuilt two 60"s that we rebored the sleeves .125 over and used Continental pistons. After reboring we removed the sleeves and replaced the sealing rings. We ordered o-rings from a standard listing of o-rings at a local auto parts store.

You wouldn"t happen to have the o-ring number for those o-rings would you?

So both the mains and rods are same and just need new holes drilled?

I have bored the sleeves out as well. You will need new pin bushings and use a one piece bushing. The mains will need the holes drilled, rods do not. Also when you take the rods in tell the shop they will not need to cut the cap to recon the rod, but do get them reconned and you will not need to fool with the shims.I also used Oldsmobile valves as it needed both guides, valves and seats and installing those valves saved money in the long run. The stems are different diameter, but a set of guide liners $1.00 something each solved that problem. On the O-rings I crossed them over to a NAPA number they had used before for some other sleeve and piston set. More questions?
