On my oliver 550 the three pt hitch won't lift. When my son was loading snow I think he backed into a pile of snow and now it won't lift. Is there a shear pin that could be broke? The oil level was fine and the lever used to raise the hitch works but it won't raise. Do I have to remove the seat and everything under the seat? What should I look out for? any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is a small pin holding a pivot rod to the lift cylinder. I don"t know if that would break though. I would test the pressure of the system, and if you have an external control valve, then check and clean it. If nothing there, then remove the seat and there are 14 bolts I believe to remove. Make sure you drain the hydraulics first while running. Then remove your bolts and the top will lift off. It is very heavy so have a lift or some help. Once in there, then check your relief valve, and more than likely you should see the problem. They are simple to work on under there. If you do remove the cover, then perform the press test. It will make sure everything is up to par. Also replace your seals and o-rings. Hope this helps, Matt
