I have an Oliver 88 Diesel that I had to replace the camshaft gear on. I'm putting everything back together and I'm getting ready to rebolt the injection pump back to the motor and wondering if I need to time it with the motor somehow. I never had the pump off of the tractor. I just removed the 2 bolts so I could remove the front cover to access the gears. Can someone please give me some quick advice on whether it still needs to be timed or not. Thanks.

What 2 bolts? Three bolts (2 cap screws,1 bolt)hold the pump on. 2 Bolts hold the pump drive gear on the pump camshaft. Why not just check the timing now while everything is good and clean? J

Yes 3 bolts hold it on. You're right on checking everything while it's clean. I wasn't for sure if you actually had to time the pump to the motor. I know the pump itself has to be timed internally and I never had to mess with that it should still be fine. I have the camshaft all timed up with the motor and now I'm ready to rebolt the injection pump. But before I put everything back together I wanted to see if it had to be timed as well. Sounds like it does. Is that correct? Thanks for your input.
