I've returned for advice. Pressure guage at location of oil guage line tested 95# at idle. Increasing rpm's maxed out the guage which goes to 100#. Concerned about using tractor until I know I wont harm it. Thanks J. or anyone else with input.

Seems pretty high to me. Maybe try a shorter spring at the relief valve.

I'll have to check with mechanic to see which oil pump we used.

Sounds like someone over tighted the relief valve on the pump. Years ago i had an oliver mechnic in an oliver dealer tell me to tighten up the plug all the way in then install the cotter pin. I had the same problem you have now. The book says to tighen the plug only untill you can get the cotter pin in. It makes a big differance. The fellow who told me this had 25 years working on oliver tractors and i was working on my first so i did what he said.
