I've seen two different types of factory 3 point hitches for the 770 and 880- Power Traction hitch and Hydra-hitch. What is the difference? Is one better than the other? Do either of them have draft sensing?

I have a power traction hitch on a 770 and love it. You need to make sure all the pins and everything are tight and you will enjoy it a lot more. I agree with the other post that it is very easy to hook up implements to the 3 point portion. It is much easier than a conventional 3 point. However, you need to pull off the arms for many pull behind impliments because they can hit on a sharp turn. All you have to do is pull out the pin and pull them out but it is an inconvience. I also like how you can lower and raise the drawbar. Hooking up to pull behind impliments is a dream, no more jacking up and down. Just back in, drop the hitch pin in, lift the drawbar and flip the jack up. There is one weekness though. The bottom cast piece tends to break the ears off where the stabilizers attach under severe side load. I have new ones being made right now out of a stronger material and they have thicker ears. I plan on selling some of them to help offset the cost of the manufacturing set up that I'll have into it.

The Hydra hitch to me is more of a 3 point hitch than the power traction hitch The hydra-hitch will also fit on older models. The power tracton hitch was only for the 770/880 tractors and was to compete against the IH Fast hitch (at least around here)Only sold 1 hydra-hitch went on a Super 77 and was used with a funny toolbar cultivator for vegtables. All 3 links are flexible so to speak while the power traction hitch has that bar welding in position. No draft control.

Thanks, John- looks like the one on the first page of the Photo Ads (when you search for Oliver) is a Power Traction- has a bar across between the arms, which looks like it would keep them at constant distance. Sounds like the more conventional Hydra hitch would be more useful. Now to find one!

I have the power traction hitch and I find the "set" distance between the arms a blessing. If I want to use the back blade, blower or cultivator, I just back up, raise the hitch and the two arms "pop" the lower links in. All I have to do then is attach the top-link. It's also easy to hook to a plow. You should be able to find either one without looking too hard. Good luck.
