Just wanted to let everyone know I bought a White parts manual on Ebay for 255$. Its the cross reference book for old part numbers to new part numbers. Got it and it had holes punched where they should not be punched. Emailed him that I was returning it and wanted my money back. Never heard nothing. Finally sent the thing back. Got it back and he says, its past the 7 day period. BEWARE of crooks on Ebay. He knew that book was bad when he sold it, anyone could open it up and see it was ruined from the holes being punched in it, and because I waited to hear from him I am stuck I guess. I have his home address and he better hope I never get close or I will certainly stop in and show him where I think he can put this book. Sorry for the rant just BEWARE of some of the books on Ebay and IMMEDIATELY send it back if it isnt 100% accurate and file a full complaint, and of course leave the dreaded NEGATIVE FEEDBACK.

I myself sell and buy on Ebay, but I always look at the reviews. Mine personally is over 550 with 100% Positive.

If I buy from someone who has less than perfect, I take the time and scroll thru the feedback and see what the problem was, then determine if it is worth buying from a person.

Sometimes, Ebay is the only option available for folks from up here in Northern Maine where farming is scarce, unlike the midwest. No parts dealers and not too many old tractors around anymore.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Same here Ken, I am in Northern Ontario so old parts hard to come by

Ebay very helpful but buyer beware , feedback if less then 99% I steer clear from and I read what the complaint was.

I have 90 transactions and only one stinker

I understand your frustration & I agree with Chris. I/my family does alot on ebay, and we take the good with the bad I suppose. We have never lost a complaint/arbitration. Ebay doesn't want that reputation either, nor do they want the jerks. Every time one of files a complaint, it adds up to result in Ebay pulling the guy off. Don't give up your money - get back at him! Best of luck.

I had delt with a guy that has tons of Oliver and White manuals on ebay currently from a state out east (I have a hunch this is the same guy your talking about by how my deal was similar). I bought the tech manual for the 100 and Workhorse series tractors from him for like 75 bucks, and my friend wanted two IH full line brochures from him. So with shipping we ended up with around $150 worth of purchases thru him....set off Paypal...and a week or so the package shows up...Box was oversized, no stuffing....open the box, and the White binder was busted up(half the reason I bought this) and then one of the full line brochures were missing two or three pages and retaped together. After a few emails he finally agreed to replace the binder and pay half back on the brochure. It took over a month to receive anything...and yet again, a grossly oversized, stuffingless box. Lucky for me the binder didnt break, and low and behold a blank check on the bottom of the box with a scribble signature. I'm like what the heck anymore! He got a negitive and a neutral feedback and got nasty over it. I sent him a pointed, but professional email stating customer satisfaction and quality. He gave me a positive for all on his end. Sadly, this guy has plenty of interesting White/Oliver stuff available, but I wont deal with him again.

No J Meyer you are wrong as I did not sell that manual he is talking about as I do not hold people to a time limit. I have come to realize that you can not please every person. I have had 2300 positive feedbacks in the last year and just 4 negative feedbacks. I would never have treated this person that way and you can research my feed back and I try and make every person satisfied even if it means loosing money on a sale. If you remembered I offered you a full refund but it was to hard for you to get to the post office and you offered the deal that was agreed to. I have plenty of repeat customers. You know what they say about assuming.

I'm glad to hear that this was a different guy. Looking back on that deal from a year or two ago(I cant remember when anymore), I was so puzzled to why you'd send someone worth that much money loose in a box. I agree you cant please everyone, but you must understand why I showed such concern...and to have gotten the replacement binder in a similar state sent me beyond words. The brochure settlement was fair to my friend and all is well there. I was stating my experience "for what its worth" and in the end I'm good with how it ended. Are you saying to me that if I elect to buy another item thru your ebay business I'll receive it packaged properly? That was my biggest concern. If I buy something it must be good and delivered in a proper manner. When I sell something to someone, I pride myself in packaging it as safely as possible, so nothing can happen.

I bet I know who you are talking about. He knows his stuff, but can be a real pain. You should see him at auctions. He knows everything, and if someone bids more than him they paid too much...

Try eBay arbitration. Make an eBay complaint first. Than when it is obvious that he will bot react favourably, you can opt for arbitration. I got my money back when some j3rk sent me damaged goods. Your complaint is the same. The proceedure is a bit of a paint in the a55, but eventually someone from eBay will sanction your money back, I am sure. If you paid on PayPal or even your credit card, again damaged goods means you have a claim...good luck.

My ebay days are quickly coming to an end.Just getting tired of all the crooks and scammers.Best way to buy and sell is to look at stuff in person-no matter what size the item is.
I've found that no matter how many transactions that go good on ebay for you,all it takes is for one really bad experience to really make you go sour!
