Anybody Else Mad at Ebay?

Just tried to post some Oliver literature for sale on ebay. I have a seller rating of 86 with 100% positive feedback. I have always just accepted money orders for payment. Now suddenly they tell me with a seller rating of less than 100 I have to use paypal to accept payment.

I could understand if I had problems or negative feedback-which I don't. If everyone I sold to had left feedback I would have a rating of over 100. None of this matters. Just another case of someone getting crapped on for being decent and honest.

I have heard of other folks becoming unhappy with ebay. I guess I just became another one.

I won"t use pay pal. I like dealing with folks that will take a money order. I get a reciept for the money order and that"s how I track what I"m buying. Plus, I don"t have to explain to the wife where I"m spending my money. I don"t mind waiting a couple of extra days until the check clears. I will not use pay pal. If a person won"t take a money order or Postal money order, I will do business else where. Thanks to you guys who take a money order. kwg

We have found the new search format annoying also. Late last night, I got our search pages back to normal. I'll try to figure out what I did and if I can translate it to "words", I'll post it later for everyone. In selling on ebay, this is what we have found to work best for us. So far we have been fortunate and not had a bad deal yet. We also custom set up our ads so paypal has not been required. I hope with future listings, it won't be either. We describe in DETAIL what we sell and take many photo's. Once payment is received and has cleared the bank, we ship, w/ delivery confirmation. Also, we require that ALL payment forms clear, because with the high tech world we live in, any document can be created and look authentic. PLUS - our bank advised us to handle ebay sales in this manner. In our experience, some buyers want paypal because they hope for immediate shipment. And I guess those buyers may choose not to buy from us. Even though our method may be a little slower, in the end EVERYONE is protected and so far happy. If we loose a few buyers because we don't accept paypal so be it - With eBay we have a selling venue for Oliver parts that we wouldn't have otherwise. Virginia is NOT Oliver country(unfortunately)!! From a buyer's stand point - When we see listings as running - to us that only means the engine will "run". If a part comes off a "working" tractor, the part should be worthy of going onto a WORKING tractor, unless specified otherwise.

This is how I rearranged our ebay search pages: At the top right of ebay home page, click on 'BUY'
Then for category, click on "Business and Industrial"
Then for item, type in "Oliver Tractor". It will bring up about 400 oliver tractor items; whole tractors, parts and manuals. Once you get your search page narrowed down to what your looking for, you can then have it "sorted" by any method you want (best match, newly listed, ending soonest etc.) Ebay automatically has the default setting to "best match" so if you change it to something else, you'll need to save it to your "favorites" at this time.
You can then repeat the process for anything else you like to look up regularily. I hope this helps.

I too have had my run-ins with Ebay/Paypal. Now when you browse for Oliver you find it sorts by Best Match instead of what you normally have set as ending soonest. I maintain a Paypal account balance with which I pay for purchases. When I add money from my bank account Paypal removes money from my bank account same day within hours yet does not post it or make it available in my Paypal account for as much as 6 days. Seems insignificant as one person but take into account how many this adds up to every day that they use your money for Free. Then charge someone to accept a cash payment from a Paypal user on top of that yet. Just my two cents.

Howdy Folks,...

Ebay and PayPal (one in the same) take their cue from the goverment. They both tax you on the money you earn.

With the goverment, you buy something you pay a sales tax.

If it has any value, you pay a Exise/Property tax just to own it.

If you scrap it, you pay again on revenue from selling it as income.

If someone else buys it, they pay a sales tax and continue with the Exise/Property tax.

And if you put you hard earned cash away, they tax you on any interest you make or hold it against you that you, having a nest egg for a rainy day.

Same with Ebay,.... Double listing Fee (one on a basic listing and one on how much you start it for and if you have a reserve), Seller fee (How much it sells for), Paypal Fee (% of what is accepted including the shipping), and on and on and on.

And the worse part is when you need help from them (Goverment or Ebay) they ignore you. Just "Big Business" I guess. S**T on the little man.

Sorry to raddle on, but this really hurts the small guy who just wants to make a few extra $$$ to stay afloat. Unlike the Mega sellers.

I sell alot on ebay my UPS driver says there is nothing I will not sell. I believe you pay for what you get and to me ebay is a great tool. I could not set up and run a web site or open a physical store for what ebay charges. I have heard a lot of guys complain about the fees but my store is open 24/7 and I do not have to be there or pay some one to be there. If I were to set up a web site the advertising to get the traffic that you get from ebay would be astronomical. You hate when fees are raise but just look at our gas and it is not that bad. I think that it is great it might not be perfect but what is. You will also find that with paypal your item will bring more as people will charge it and not think about it. I also have never had a problem shipping overseas with tractor people.

Yeah, I have been burned once or twice by out and out liars.
But to be fair, eBay has created a buyer's market that was almost inconceivable before. How else would I find out about a guy who has found a set of rare bushings for an 50+ year old tractor at the back of his shed and just wants a loving home for them?
Whatever they say, the manual people have never had it so good, I promise you!!!
I try to roll with the punches. I win some, I lose the odd one. If you get a bad feeling, don't bid. Ask questions. If sellers do not answer them straight, they are hiding something...and it is then in writing, if you have to go to eBay arbitration.
Selling overseas is really open to abuse! BE CAREFUL. Most Canadians are fine though ;-)

PayPal is annoying, and open to abuse, but waiting for a cheque that might never come is also stressful.
As MCL says...try to cope and buyer beware at all times....and don't be tight, pay the extra $1 or $2 for insurance!!

I can't stand Ebay or Paypal. I sent a $400 toy, new in the box, to a winning bidder in England. He decided not to accept the shipment and filed for a refund through paypal. He was given his money back and I still don't have the toy back after four months! I did what I was supposed to and have the tracking and insurance numbers from USPS to prove it! The whole Ebay/Paypal mess stinks!

I dislike PayPal, I sold an item to a guy once and because it did not get to him as quick as he would of liked he ask Pay Pal for re-imbursement reporting that it was never sent. He knew I mailed it but he was dishonest from the word go. Pay Pal actually re-imbursed him. I could not believe it. I got the part back and the box said refused by receipient. I just put stuff on recently but I don't accept Pay Pal. I clearly state that in my description section. Chris

Ebay is killing me! I have about 300 manuals on ebay. I sell about 50-60 a month. I went on the other week to list an item and the catagory was gone. I thought I was going crazy. I contacted ebay and they said they were changing things around. I found the new catagory and posted in their. 2 days later they changed the catagories back to the old system. I was pulling my hair out....my father inlaw said their stock is dropping bad. Its no wonder....

I've always had good luck with Paypal. But If I read one more add with "This part came off a perfectly good running Oliver tractor" I think I'll scream. But that's not Ebay's fault...
