I recently came across an older Cockshutt/White baler for sale. As you can see it looks to be in decent shape, but the owner said it needs to have the plunger put back in. How hard of a job is this? And what might this baler be worth as it sits now? He's asking $300 but is open to offers.

That's all good to hear...I wasn't sure what it was worth as I have only bought and worked with New Holland balers, and I have never seen a Cockshutt/Oliver/White baler around here before. I don't have much of a use for it, but if I could make a few $$ on a resale or learn something tinkering with it that would be great. The last thing I would do would be to scrap it! Everything I can save I do, nothing around here gets crushed if I can help it!

Could also be a 710.These balers had a shipping weight of almost 3000lbs,with the price of scrap you couldn't really go wrong, but I think it's way to good of a baler to scrap.

I"d have to ask, "Why is the plunger out?" Something must have gone wrong to take the plunger out - not an easy job and no reason to do so unless something went awry.

Is there a number on the baler? Looks like a model 720.

As it is, with the plunger out, $300 or thereabouts seems to be ok price.

For the diehard collector the Cockshutt badge may make it worth a bit more.

The model 720 baler was a very good baler in it"s day and it looks like this one could be returned to it"s former glory.
