Thanks to Kent Gordon and Chris Van I have my hydraulic pan (and some other parts) and I'm trying to find time to get my 550 back together.

I found a bunch of ice and stuff in there and hope that with a good cleaning and some new gaskets everything will work when I reassemble it.

I've take the opportunity to drain and clean the transmission and rear end and will put new oil in.

I plan on putting the hydraulic unit back together and on the tractor then fill hyd unit with 10W30 and let the tractor sit with plugs out of rear end to see if any leaks appear.

Are there any suggestions as to other things I should check/test or do while I have the hydraulic unit off the tractor?

Check the email you listed below for the pages on the bench test. Let me know if you don't receive it.

You've mentioned the "press test" before but I didn't read what it is or how you do it.

Can you elaborate?

You're welcome! Your dad gave us a bottle of his own Maple Syrup, so it was worth the trip for that alone! I hope the sap is running nicely now.
We also got to see his A-C tractor collection and new Suzuki ATV. What a nice fella.
Good luck with those hydraulics!

Dad said it was a pleasure to meet you and your wife. The syrup was the least I/we could offer.

Dad has, for some reason, fallen for the orange tractors. He'd never been on an orange tractor til he restored the CA and now he's hooked.

Thanks again for you're help and if there is ever anything I can do for you please feel free to let me know.

Talk to you again.

Were your rear rear axle seals leaking, good time to replace as well as your PTO shaft oil seal and felt washer.

Yes the one rear axle seal was leaking but I'm not going that far this time. I'm trying to find the time to get done what I've started while helping look after my 2 year old daughter and my 4 week old daughter so time is a bit short.

I was more thinking about the hydraulic unit.
