This 1655 oliver tractor has almost everything original on it and was bought new! As the years went by it became hard to start and it got to the point to were you had to pull it off to get it to run. Recently we went to go pull it off and right after that, we noticed the anti-freeze mixed with the oil. We then killed it immidiately and drained the oil after it cooled down. We put oil back in it and added some block sealer. We started it and then it died and it locked up.

Is this a broken crank shaft, rod, piston? We would like to know what the problem is, but we had olivers since they were new and never had a engine that had problems. We know it needs a rebuilt engine but don't know were to find one in the DFW Texas area.

I'd bet the farm that you spun a rod bearing. I think you got antifreeze in it. If that's the case, you'll have to pull the motor and have the crank ground if it didn't tear it up too bad.

It's really hard to tell based on your messege. Is this a gas or diesel tractor? If it died from idle and was locked when you tried to restart it may be as simple as water in the combustion chamber. If so it will turn over after the water leaks past the rings.
These engines are easy to rebuild. Biggest issue is figuring out why the water is getting into the cylinder(s).

This is a diesel tractor.

I am going to look into all of this information and give it all a try!

Thanks for the help!

It could have siezed up? You will have to pull the oil pan to find out for sure, and if it did break some thing you would be able to see it. Good Luck-----craftsman
