Brian the type of oil used in your tractor depends upon the type of climate you live in and the type of application you plan to use it for. For instance if you live in a cold climate (32 F) or below and plan to use the tractor during the cold weather use multigrade 10w30 oil. If you only use the tractor during warm summer months use a straight weight oil like 30w. To find a muffler just go to any implement dealer or a farm store ( like Farm and Country ) and tell them what the diameter of your exhaust manifold outlet hole is they can fix you right up. As far as your oil consumption problem in number one cylinder it is always better to fix the problem permently than temperailly. If your rings are bad or the valve guide is worn out then they should be repaired so that you don't create more problems for yourself. If you have a broken ring you might be able to repair it before it were to score a cylinder liner. If you put in a hotter coil you will prolong the problem and increase the chance of doing more damage to the engine. I hope this will answer your questions and help you. Good Luck Shadetree.
