A guy a work was telling me he saw a add in the local Farm Bureau paper for a 770 and loader, 2 phone numbers. He called 1 number and it was the owner's son-in-law, said they wanted $11,000. Said owner bought it for $7000, and put a new loader on it and now wants $11,000. He said thanks, and hung up. That can't be right, surely it was supposed to be $1100. So he calls the other number and talks to owner, yep, $11,000. Said he wasn't interested. He was telling me about it, and said he would bring in the ad for me. If it ain't too far away, I think I might go and look at it, must be made of gold. Chris

I have a 770 I just restored and I got around $4500 in it. I bought the tractor for $100 and I put lots of labor into it. I rebuilt engine,New clutch, stripped down to frame and blasted everything. rebuilt brakes. Pulled rearend pan/platform and cleaned it all out. New seals and gaskets everywhere. Prime and paint. Changed narrow to a wide front with new tie rod end. New tires and tubes. New guages. New wiring. New decals. New seat rubbers and bushings. New sending units. My tractor is essentially a new 50hp tractor. I love it and it would take significant money for me to sell, At least $10,000.00 So my point is this, I can see where a guy might want that much for his tractor if it's a good one. Chris

If its a diesel and it has in fact been totally redone including trans, rear etc its a bargain compared to what $11,000 will buy in today's new tractor world and outlast any of the new ones.Friend has a new Kubota that cost more than $11,000 that the loader wouldn't pick up a 500 lb lawn mower and put it on the back of my truck.

I agree must be made of gold, but that's my opinion. Somthing is worth what an individual will pay.
So to someone it may be worth that.

Believe it or not my son and I restored a 880 diesel from the ground up and we have 10k invested in it (not including anything for our labour)Also restored my grandfathers 70 and spent all most 10 on it as well. Hey but its supposed to be a hobby not a way to make money right?

It's kinda funny but he might have that in it. You go totally through one from front to back, motor work, paint job, tires, etc. and you could have $7000 in one. I believe a new loader could be $4000.

I just paid $3700 for a Koyker 220, without hydraulic valves, hoses, ect... That price was after negotions from several dealers across the nation. Highest quote was about $5000 turnkey.

$3700.10 on a trailer

$3700.10 installed on a "Red" tractor :)

You could easily have 10 grand into a tractor, for sure. My roomie has a 560 diesel he has over 10 into. Biggest problem sticking that much money into them, you cant get it back out of them.

Now this will sound crazy, but just the other day a buddy(not an Oliver guy) told me he was at a guys place who claimed he had been offered $25,000 for a 770 with an Oliver mounted picker. I said you have one too many zeroes there. He said that the farmer told him that the left hand PTO lever made it worth alot as there were only four made.I'm just repeating the story , I think somebodies nuts.By the way the farmer didn't sell it for that!

That story reminds me of the old saying. "Two fools met that day and two fools walked away." The first guy was a fool for offering that much. The second guy was a bigger fool for not selling the tractor for that much.

Amen to Old! Yea j, I think your right. I suggested a trade on here one evening for my 880 witht the fellow that owns the 105. I'm in the same boat so to speak - alot of money invested but dare to ask that much. Anyway, after all that work I have a hard time parting with that tractor. It's just too much fun going to the antique pulls and blowin smoke. Sure turns some heads! By the way, how's the wedding plans?
