My Oliver 1600 with hydraulic steering turns hard in both directions. The hydraulics and the 3 point works fine but the steering turns hard. I know its cold out but it should work better once the tractor warms up. Any suggestions. Thanks Jeff

Jeff, did you check that yet? I didn't even bother to guage mine, just put a couple of shims in it and tried it. What a difference! I feel foolish for wrestling with it for so long now.

Larry has you in the correct aera. Now early 1600 tractors used a lower pressure relief valve for the flow divider. Oliver had a kit to update that. Take that 1/4 inch pipe plug out and it will be very tight if nobody has had it out before. Stick a pressure gauge of 1500 psi or more in there and see what the pressure is while turning the wheels and what it is when it hits the stops. You may also need to do a little work on the front end especially if it is not a rowcrop front end. Questions. Also if you do include serial number. J.

Good to know J. I've had that 1600 of mine for 7 years and that steering on mine is tighter than Dicks hat band. Just figured it was in the hydramotor on mine.

The flow divider is stuck or the spring is broken. The flow divider is on the front of the hydrolic unit on old 1600's or the left side of newer tractors. Take the plug out and check things over.
