Brother has a 1750 diesel that needs a rebuild.

Can an average person (thats my brother and I) rebuild this motor without getting into too much trouble?

I never had an I & T book for them but there are updates for those engines that need to be followed and I doubt if they are in the I & T manual. Also you need to work with a good shop that for lack of a better description understands the diesel engines of that vintage and horsepower.

Any experience in overhauls? Ever worked with wet sleeve engines? Have a service manual?

If you get an I&T shop manual, follow it step, by step, in tearing down, and putting it back together, step, by step, you and your brother shouldn't have any trouble doing it. Place your parts neatly as you take them off, so you can figure out how to put them back together when the time comes. Also what part of the world are you from. I'm from Ontario, Canada, with the same last name.

Now there is an interesting question! Sometimes I get in trouble by just walking in the door at home!

Is that after, or before you throw your hat through the door first, to test the waters to see if the boss (wife) is in a good mood or not?
