I am trying to fix a leak from the shaft end (left) on my Oliver 500. I think the source is blowby from the hydrolic piston's rings. I have removed the piston and honed the cylinder, whick helped stop the leak when lift is down, but still leaks badly when in use. Is there a return drain that may be clogged? I have replaced the housing gaskets and new o-ring for the shaft end, but don't think it is the cause of the leak

I am going to send you an e-mail. I never worked on one. This is not utility tractor country, however I do have a shop manual for the tractor. I can copy pages but not set up to scan with this computer as of yet. Ask for Elmer over on the Case form. Tell him I sent you. He is Mr. David Brown. Eh. J.

That 500 was built by David Brown as you might know. A model 850. They were bought out by Case. If you don't get any help here, you might try over on the Case forum.
