There is going to be one of each at a sale this weekend. Both are gas and the 55 has a "swept back" front end what ever that is. I have alawys had the other green but have wanted an oliver for a long time. What are they worth? Are parts hard to get? I will be using the tractor to put up hay and thats about it maybe pulling a 10 foot disc when I put in new hay fields. Any pros or cons? Heard there tough on gas but how bad? Any thing I should look for? Thanks in advance

An 1850/55 gas tractor is alot like a Deere 4020 gas--they are good tractors with thirsty engines when worked hard. Granted I'd rather have the Oliver over the 4020 gas anyday. Anywho, they are a good unit.

Both good tractors. The "swept back" fronts are also called under-mount fronts. We have a few fronts like it and like them well.

Someone on here lately said it pretty well. "It's easier to get Oliver parts now then when Oliver was in business".

Your talking about a 90+ HP gas engine. For the light jobs it would not be to bad on gas.The swept back front end means the wide front is tucked back ,it has a shorter wheel base something like a wheatland.Parts availability is not a problem yet through a AGCO dealer.Their is a difference in the hydroulics between the two tractors, open and closed system. They are decent trctors if their in good shape.
