On a Super 77, can the hy oil get in the tranmission and rear end? How does the Hy pump drive? Would there be a seal there somewhere? We have had to add Hy oil frequently, and when I checked the rear end, it was over full. I pulled the drain, and no water there, only oil.

Thanks for any help

Just my 2 cent worth but if it was left outside or seals around levers or the wires, if it has those are at all bad I bet the center pump housing has froze and cracked. If the hydraulic oil don't get changed yearly it will condensate too and you know oil always floats on water. The pump is the lowest part of the system and water will always gather there and when left out in mother nature it will freeze and bust that plate. Pull pto clutch cover then 3 bolts around in back of clutch pack and carefully pry back, you my have to turn the pto shaft backwards because sometimes their is wear in the gears inside. Try not to rip the gasket behind the flange you removed the 3 bolts from. Shaft is very long. After removal of shaft just unbolt bolts around base of pump and lift up and out complete unit while wigging around to lift. You may destroy the base gasket unless you have two people to lift slowly and save gasket. If your plate isn't cracked then just new seals and o-rings. I&T repair book from tractor supply shows the pump blueprint very good. All in all a easy job, GOOD LUCK!

As Ken says. You most likely have bad seals in the hyd pump where the drive shaft goes threw it. Its not all that bad a job to fix I had it happen to my S88 and it only took a couple hours to fix. Seal numbers are #XK2053 or CR13545. If I remember right the seals from the S88 and the S77 etc are all the same. It takes 4 of them by the way 2 on each side

If the seals on the pump leak, the oil will go into the trans. The pump is driven by the shaft that goes from the flywheel to the PTO clutch at the rear of the tractor. This shaft has to be pulled to be able to remove the hyd pump.
