I have heard that the Oliver 74 mounted picker was built by New Idea. I have a parts catalog for a 74 and some of the parts look similar but a lot of them don't. Anyone out there who knows the "scoop" on this?

The model 74 picker was built in Oliver's Shelbyville, IL plant.   I have photos of the prototypes in corn fields in Iowa.

Would you mind posting your pictures or emailing them to me? I'd like to see them. I've got an Oliver Sales Notes dated September 1962 covering a 74 picker which looks different than the one I have. It is mounted on a 1800 Series A. The screen around the front of the picker tapers down as it comes around the side and the stock ejectors are located half way up the side elevators.

So is there any connection between the 74 picker and New Idea? I was talking to a gentleman about a month ago that remembers his dad having an Oliver 74 picker but they used a New Idea sheller attachment on it. He said it lined right up with the mounts.
