Had the pleasure of meeting one of our own this weekend.

Bought a single-wheel front end for my 88 diesel from Ed and finally got around to picking it up abot a 3hr. drive south from me.One of the finest persons I've met!

Ed showed me his very impressive Oliver and Cockshutt collection including a 990,1900 MFA,and various standards/wheatlands.Unbeleivable.

After leaving Ed's,the family and myself headed for Charles City and spent the night there.Did a little sight-seeing,crossed the 1903 suspension bridge, went to the old Oliver plant location(depressing),Swartzrock Implement and historic downtown.Floyd County museum was closed(dangit),but gawked through window anyway.

We're goin back this spring to see Charles Hart and Charles Parr's grave sites and the museum along with an accumulating list of museums and collections in neighboring cities.

Thanks again Ed!! ~brad

When you go back to Iowa next time make sure to see the Dumont Museum. Lyle and Helen have an amazing collection. Very nice people too. My wife and I went this past October for our anniversary. We toured all around Iowa, put on about 1000 miles in 4 days traveling to different museums. I agree, the old Oliver factory site is very depressing. I wish I would have been able to see it in it"s glory days.

I live fairly close to Charles City, and passing through town over the years have watched the plant site slowly deteriorate . Was by it last summer and it seemed the over growth of trees and brush has really sped up. I agree. Depressing. All the years I was around a Oliver/White dealership I never toured the Plant.
