After 2.5 years I finally was able to drive my super 55 diesel. It now runs quite well but is still very difficult to start. Actually I've not been able to get it started without a shot of WD40 down the intake. I'm hoping it is a compression problem and once the rings seat (at least better than now) the starting problem will disappear. Other than compression I'm just not sure what else to tinker with. Any ideas?

I don't really have anything to load it down. Rotary mower, rototiller, drum mower, tedder and rake is about it. Nothing to till or mow this time of year. I could load up a trailer and pull it around for a couple hours.

Thanks J. That gives me hope. I hope to let it run today for a few hours.

Don't know where you are but pull something with it that takes at least 20-25 Horsepower. Don't let it run empty! Worse thing you can do. J.

Get a load on it to seat those rings! They were famous for being hard to start. Sometime take the head off and get a set of valve seats installed and the valve recession set correctly and most of your starting problems will go away. J.
